AILEEN RUSSELL – New Associate, Employment and Labour Law
Aileen Russell who articled with the firm this past year, was Called to the Bar on June 16, 2008 and has joined the firm as an Associate, working in the Employment and Labour Law Department.

J.DOUGLAS LAWSON – Doctorate of Laws Recipient
Doug Lawson received an honorary Doctorate of Laws Degree from the University of Windsor at the Convocation held on June 13, 2008.

JERRY B. UDELL – Appointed Certified Board Specialist, Law Society of Upper Canada
Jerry Udell has been appointed to the Law Society of Upper Canada’s Certified Specialist Board that establishes standards for the certification of lawyer licensees and is responsible for determining the areas of law in which lawyers may be certified.  It also develops approval policies relating to the certification of lawyers as specialists.

George King was chosen as a leading practitioner in Labour Law in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory 2008.

NANCY JAMMU-TAYLOR AND MARNIE SETTERINGTON GOENS
Nancy Jammu-Taylor, Partner in the Labour and Employment Law Department, and Marnie Setterington Goens, Associate in the Commercial Litigation Department, spoke at the Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association Professional Development Claims Conference in Toronto.   They focused on the relationship between workplace safety and insurance benefits and statutory accident benefits.  In this regard, they reviewed recent case law in the area and advised insurance adjusters and health and safety coordinators of the questions they need to be asking in order to determine which type of benefits may be payable.  For more information, please feel free to contact either one of them.
